Infix Support was started in 2019 by consultant anaesthetist Dr Matthew Freer and designer David Freer. This established a foundation of clinical expertise and creative problem solving that is at the heart of our business.
The focus was to tackle inefficiencies within operating theatre planning by harnessing existing NHS data and empowering the scheduling teams with easy to use digital tools that optimised their output.
In our initial pilot we built our cloud based product, backed by 5 years’ worth of NHS operating times to allow automated, intelligent decisions, Within 4 months we improved theatre efficiency by over 25% in a large NHS health board. This is an extra 800 hip operations a year in this hospital alone.
Since then our flagship product Infix Support has won a national contract to supply a ‘Once for Scotland’ approach to all NHS Scotland hospitals. We have developed a range of further products that support the planning process and have engaged with national and international clients.
